The organizers stated that they hope this protest will draw the American public's attention to human rights issues in China and that President Trump will pressure Xi Jinping at the summit. I hope President Trump puts human rights above all else; you can talk about economics, but you must not forget human rights. There are China's prisoners of conscience. I appeal, including Jimmy Lai, Zhang Zhan, as well as many of our domestic figures like Ding Jiaxi and many human rights lawyers, for pressure to be put on the Chinese Communist Party and on Xi Jinping, hoping for their release.
