Guide to Resistance in China: Staying Clear-Headed, Hidden, and Spreading Information Under the CCP's High Pressure

In today's China, many people have forgotten: Humans were not meant to live like this. The CCP's greatest success is not its violence. Rather, it is that it has made more and more people actively adapt to the cage.

Ordinary People's Resistance

Many people think that resistance must be something earth-shattering and dramatic. It's not. For those living under CCP control, true resistance is often, first and foremost, simply not being completely assimilated by it.

The CCP's greatest strength has never been its instruments of violence, but its long-term monopoly over the cognitive environment of Chinese people. From birth, it has allowed people to access only the information it permits, use only the language it allows, and think only within the boundaries it prescribes. Over time, many people even lose the concept that "the outside world is different."

Therefore, the first step in resistance is to break out of this information cocoon.

Staying Sane

Anyone who truly wants to stay sane must ensure they have the ability to connect with the outside world as much as possible. The ability to circumvent the Great Firewall is not a luxury, but an essential tool for modern Chinese people to maintain independent thinking. No matter how tight your finances, try to equip yourself with a reliable VPN, proxy, or other circumvention tool. If you really can't afford it, there are many free methods available online. You must not allow yourself to become accustomed to living long-term in a completely closed information environment.

Many people may not realize that long-term isolation from external information gradually changes one's thinking structure. You will become more accustomed to the explanatory framework provided by the CCP, more prone to self-censorship, and increasingly lose your true perception of the "outside world."

Circumventing the Great Firewall

Therefore, one must cultivate a sense of vigilance against information blockade. One must instinctively feel uneasy when unable to connect to the external network, and feel that one is being blinded again after not accessing information outside the firewall for many days. Constantly remind yourself: a self that cannot see the world is a self that is being obscured.

Listening to Enemy Radio

Besides circumventing the internet, there is another information breakthrough channel that many young people overlook today, but which remains very important – listening to "enemy radio."

In the era before the internet was widespread, countless Chinese people learned about the world beyond the CCP for the first time through shortwave radios. Even today, many overseas Chinese radio stations still exist. Voice of America, Radio Free Asia, and other overseas broadcasts still allow people to access news and historical narratives completely different from those within the firewall.

The greatest value of shortwave radio is that it does not rely on the internet. The CCP can block websites, platforms, and apps, but it cannot completely block the entire radio world as it can the internet.

For many people, an inexpensive shortwave radio might mean a completely different information world.

Becoming a Propagator

And a person who truly stays sane will eventually influence those around them. Because true awakening rarely comes from indoctrination, but from comparison. As soon as someone realizes: "This world has another explanation"; "There are other angles to many things"; "The CCP is not the only source of information"; the ideological imprint begins to loosen.

Often, you don't need to give long speeches or talk politics all day. You just need to occasionally mention something they've never heard of. A piece of news, a historical event, a name banned from the firewall, a statement completely different from the official narrative. Many people may not respond to you on the surface, or may even change the subject immediately. But don't feel like you've failed. Because you don't know if they will secretly search for it later; if they will circumvent the firewall late at night; if they will begin to doubt for the first time.

True ideological dissemination often happens in silence.

At the same time, we must acknowledge reality. The current China is not a society that allows open and free political discussion. The CCP's surveillance of speech, networks, and organizations has penetrated the capillaries of society. Therefore, we must learn a form of long-term survival resistance.

Storming the Tower

Truly valuable "storming the tower" is by no means a reckless counterattack after losing emotional control, nor is it leaving nothing behind after a screen full of black.

Storming the tower is certainly an honor. But mature resisters should not pursue a one-time self-immolation, but rather repeated precise strikes from which they can still retreat unharmed.

We want to be able to continue developing, continue outputting, and continue spreading influence after striking down the tower, not have our accounts wiped out, be taken away, and our voices completely silenced after one charge.

The CCP most wants to see its opponents lose control of their emotions, expose themselves prematurely, and be quickly eliminated.

Therefore, truly mature resistance is not just about courage, but also about patience, strategy, and survival skills. Because as long as you exist, you can continue to influence others; as long as you are active, you can continue to dance on the CCP's face.

Invisible Propagation

Within the firewall, learn to protect yourself. Don't get banned easily, don't leave obvious traces. Long-term skirting the edges, long-term operation on the verge of CCP censorship, and long-term subtle influence on others is often more valuable than a one-time intense statement. Because as long as you exist for one day, you can spread for one day; as long as you are active for one day, you can influence for one day.

And in real life, don't think you can't do anything. Many people always feel that resistance must have organization, slogans, and banners. In fact, the most powerful dissemination is often hidden in ordinary social relationships.

Truly mature dissemination is not necessarily dramatic. It is more like water, permeating daily life, interpersonal relationships, and silence. It is everywhere, yet not easily seen.

Conversations between friends. Discussions in interest groups. Casual mentions in gaming, movie, history, or tech groups. Complaining about real-world issues. Lightly touching upon certain blocked events. Reinterpreting a piece of history.

These things may seem trivial, but their true value in bypassing the CCP's greatest strength is that they don't resemble propaganda, but rather life.

And humans, by nature, lower their guard against information from familiar relationships.

Therefore, truly vital resistance forces in the future may not necessarily appear in the form of traditional political organizations. Often, they will first exist in various ordinary communities, ordinary relationship networks, and ordinary interest circles. Building trust between people first, then slowly building cognitive resonance.

Don't rush to label everyone. Don't emphasize identity every day. Don't let "anti-CCP" become a niche identity detached from real society. Because our goal has never been to create a self-congratulatory small group, but to gradually free more and more ordinary Chinese people from the CCP's narrative.

What is truly powerful is never a few radical individuals. What truly frightens the CCP is the gradual wavering, transformation, and resistance of the growing base of ordinary, indifferent, cynical, and complacent people.

Offline Resonance

There is also much that can be done offline.

In this society of high surveillance and widespread silence, many Chinese people feel despair not only because the CCP is powerful, but because they believe they are the only ones doubting, dissatisfied, and angry.

Therefore, sometimes a slogan suddenly appearing in the real world has far greater significance than many imagine.

In toilet stalls, abandoned buildings, desolate wilderness, on utility poles, in small advertisement boards, in corners without camera coverage... any place that can temporarily escape surveillance can become a space for information dissemination.

Many people may not linger after seeing such writings, may not take photos, may not discuss them, or may even pretend not to see them. But in that moment, they will realize: "I am not the only one thinking about these issues."

This feeling of "there are others too" itself shakes the very foundation of what the CCP relies on – making everyone isolated, silent, and afraid to confirm their true thoughts.

Moreover, one of the greatest values of offline dissemination is that it truly exists in physical space.

People might subconsciously dismiss much of what's online as "someone online is talking nonsense." But a slogan, a sticker, or a symbol in reality creates a completely different psychological impact. Because it means: someone has actually taken action in the real world.

Of course, any offline action must be based on safety. Don't expose yourself out of momentary impulse. True mature resistance is not about leaving your name, but about leaving your influence.

Passive Resistance

Besides direct information dissemination, there is another form of resistance that is increasingly important today, and is even explicitly regarded as a threat by the CCP authorities – "lying flat."

Many people always feel that resistance must be fierce, must involve shouting slogans, must take to the streets. Not necessarily. For a regime that relies heavily on the system of "human resources" (miners), "non-cooperation" itself is a form of resistance.

The CCP most wants to see Chinese people being exploited while actively burning themselves out; suffering while unconditionally continuing to feed the system.

Therefore, refusing to be the "consumable material" it expects has inherent resistance value.

Do not blindly buy property. Do not exhaust your life for so-called "success." Do not be driven by the fear of involution created by the CCP to...
