Leaving food, air, and water, humans cannot survive. However, if you do not care about politics, you will eat toxic food, drink polluted water, and breathe poisonous smog.
What does “caring about politics” mean? The answer: people exercising the civil rights granted by the constitution, supervising the abuse of power, and restraining the evil of power—that is “caring about politics.”
Because the Chinese nation has experienced over two thousand years of imperial autocracy, ideas of loyal rulers, hierarchical concepts, and “official‑centric” thinking have become deeply ingrained. Folk sayings even spread the ancient admonition “good citizens do not fight officials.” Reform and exploration in the realm of “politics” have long been an official taboo. Yet after encountering Western civilization, we finally realized that politics is not some lofty thing; it is simply a group of civil servants (similar to property managers) hired with the money of all taxpayers to provide public services for everyone. Although this requires sacrificing some private rights, public power must never be placed above the law—entering a “power‑greater‑than‑law” disaster mode.
Rousseau: “If there is no law, man is the worst animal; if power is unchecked, officials are the worst group.”
We must admit that human nature is selfish. Once a person gains a little power, they will crave greater domination—seeking illegal profit through rent‑seeking, even pursuing absolute power and hereditary rule to ensure they can “have the right to be willful,” engaging in power‑money and power‑sex deals, transferring massive amounts of public wealth abroad, and sending relatives, children, mistresses, and illegitimate offspring to the burning hell of Western countries to enjoy the decaying life of the bourgeoisie, without any punishment.
When power is allowed to act without restraint, it inevitably brings catastrophic disaster. Over the more than seventy years since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took power, tragedies repeat and calamities recur because power refuses any supervision or restraint; instead, those who hold power carry cages around catching people.
Daniel Patrick Moynihan: “If you go to a strange country and see that its newspapers are full of good news, I bet all the good people are in prison.” This is exactly the case; the prisons of the CCP state are filled with conscience prisoners. Where is hope?
If you are born in a democratic country, you can stay away from politics, do what you love, invent, travel, because there is a relatively complete system that keeps power locked in a cage, protecting you from arbitrary oppression. However, if you are born in an authoritarian state, you must be careful. If you do not care about politics, politics will care about you. The thieves of the nation wave hammers and sickles (now modernized into combine harvesters, human‑mining excavators, totalitarian meat grinders), ready to harvest you like chives, mine you like human ore, and squeeze you like broth. If you remain numb, evil authoritarianism will gradually strip away the rights that should belong to you.
Since the “Cultural Revolution faction” came to power, they have fully returned to Marxist‑Leninist dogmatism and Maoist “extreme struggle,” treating the people with the lowest possible standards, emphasizing “every cut draws blood”: farmers may not raise pigs, vegetable growers may not plant, citizens may not set up stalls for a living, workers may not ride electric bikes to work, lawyers may not defend the weak, teachers may not spread true knowledge, professors may not explain Western civilization, intellectuals may not voice dissent, private enterprises may not grow large, foreign capital may not enter monopolistic sectors, students may not learn English, petitioners may not appeal above their level, workers may not legally demand unpaid wages, netizens may not bypass the Great Firewall, people may not read banned books… They speak good words while doing terrible deeds, eliminating elite citizens and praising thugs, using a “boiling frog” approach to gradually strip citizens of their innate rights, vowing to reverse history and create a “large‑scale North Korea”—a terrifying human hell!

The rise and fall of a nation is the responsibility of every individual; “caring about politics” is an inescapable duty of every citizen. To eat healthy food, drink pure water, and breathe fresh air, and to ensure our descendants are no longer reduced to chive mines or annihilated, we must collectively stand up and speak bravely, urging rulers to make real reforms. If the authoritarian monster refuses to compromise, we must exercise the constitutional “civil rights”—to jointly overthrow it!
