Eric.V:
The Fascistization of China: A Rarely Explored Topic
The fascistization of China is a subject that has rarely been studied. On the one hand, global turbulence seems to have pushed the Chinese Communist authorities to hastily accelerate certain fascist measures. On the other hand, the seeds of fascism in Chinese society have long been sown.
This brings us to a question that many have vaguely sensed: the phenomenon of "Germany worship" in Chinese society.
This "Germany" primarily refers to three interconnected political entities: Prussia, the German Empire, and Nazi Germany.
Among these, Nazi Germany is the main object of admiration, though its overt nature often necessitates invoking the other two as a front.
These admirers have a somewhat self-deprecating nickname: "German Fanboys" (德棍).
Although in recent years, China's economic status as the world's second-largest economy has swelled some egos to the point where certain "German Fanboys" even dismiss the Third Reich, a closer look reveals the widespread prevalence of "Germany worship" in China over the long course of history, along with the staggering number of German Fanboys.
The massive ecosystem built upon this phenomenon has exerted an influence on China's social fascistization far beyond ordinary expectations.
Take myself as an example. When I was in elementary school, I could easily access a pirated copy of Mein Kampf. At the time, this book was not uncommon in the numerous pirated book stalls on the streets.
Out of curiosity, I actually read through it.
The idea that Nazi propaganda could circulate so widely on the streets, accessible even to elementary school children, would be inconceivable in normal societies like those in Europe and the United States, where Nazi propaganda is regulated. But in Chinese society, no one seemed to care.
In form, what is worshiped is Germany, but in essence, it is the fascist core behind it: top-down leadership dictatorship, militaristic expansionism, and the awe-inspiring aesthetics of fascism...
Germany happens to be the "chosen one" of Chinese fascist worship due to its strength among fascist states and its apparent lack of historical humiliation of China. In comparison, Italy was too weak, and Japan, due to its invasion of China and atrocities like massacres, is too humiliating for Chinese people to admire and also poses risks of official censorship.
The phenomenon of fascist worship in Chinese society is not incidental but is deeply intertwined with various aspects of Chinese culture.
Let me point out two of the most apparent ones:
- Traditional Chinese Culture Fascism's expansionist nature and its philosophy of treating individuals as tools for collective warfare align seamlessly with China's philosophy of sacrificing individuals for the "greater good." Both ideologies advocate placing all of society under the autocratic rule of the "strongest individual." Beneath the guise of "patriotic sentiment" lies a cold and ruthless collectivism, leader-worship fueled by the extravagant privileges of those in power, rigid hierarchies, and the accompanying social Darwinism.
The genetic makeup of fascism and traditional Chinese culture fit together as naturally as a double helix.
Ironically, the "collectivism" constantly trumpeted by both is, in fact, a pseudo-collectivism, fundamentally distinct from healthy collectivism. Ultimately, this form of collectivism is merely an ideological tool serving the ultimate, highest individual—the leader.
In one sentence: collectivism in the context of Eastern despotism is essentially an extreme distortion of individualism.
The worship of fascism is an inevitable product of this Eastern cultural context.
- The Party-State System of the CCP Without exception, fascist states are governed by party-state rule. The contemporary People's Republic of China is undoubtedly a party-state.
This red authoritarian regime, seemingly diametrically opposed to Nazism, shares the same essence: both are anti-human fascist criminal organizations.
Under the CCP's party-state system, the worship of fascism naturally evolves into the fascistization of society. What more needs to be said?
This leads to an important point:
Anti-communism has never been a standalone political topic. It is not something that can be dissected with the CCP's favorite dialectical method, dividing its "good" and "bad" aspects in an attempt to feign objective, rational, and neutral academic analysis. No, such pseudo-objectivity and pseudo-neutrality ultimately aim to undermine the legitimacy of anti-communism.
The essence of the CCP is fascism, and to oppose the CCP is to oppose fascism.
Do not underestimate the arduousness of the anti-fascist struggle, nor should you underestimate the righteousness of this great battle.
Let us persevere together.
