In the early stage of the Jilong landslide disaster in Tibet, the authorities announced three deaths and 558 missing, a total of 561 people dead or missing. Subsequently the figures were adjusted multiple times: at one point they changed to five deaths and 558 missing, total 563; later they changed to seven deaths and 554 missing, total 561. By September 2, the official numbers became 21 deaths and 541 missing, total 562, and it was also reported that 847 pieces of remains were found.
