On May 22, 2026, the Public Security Bureau of Luchuan County, Guangxi, issued a police report stating that a "knife-wielding assault case" had occurred locally, claiming that the suspect had not only injured 2 civilians but also 5 police officers were injured during the handling of the incident.
However, as videos from the scene spread online, more and more people began to question the narrative in the official report.
Because from the videos circulating so far, people did not see footage of the knife-wielder attacking ordinary civilians. More crucially, the onlookers at the scene did not show panic, dispersal, or condemnation; on the contrary, cheers, applause, and clearly supportive voices were continuously heard from the scene.
