Jiang Bu: These Three Days — Filming the Documentary on Teacher Li's Issuance of $LI Coin

Over these three days, I have fully filmed the process of Teacher Li issuing $LI.

Yesterday morning, on the second day of $LI's issuance, the subway screen was playing news about the lighting of the Christmas tree in the center of Rome. Teacher Li pointed to the screen and said to me, "Look, even the Christmas tree has to be new."

Yes, all of this is too new, whether it is the Christmas tree formed by spiraling light strips, or a meme coin issued by a top Chinese KOL claiming to support press freedom and artistic freedom.

On December 17, I flew from Paris to Italy to film Teacher Li issuing the coin. Even after more than 60 hours of filming and spending three days and nights together, I still cannot predict whether the history I witnessed is a tragedy or a comedy. But I have at least seen the epoch-making attempt made by Teacher Li in the face of the dilemma of community resources, and I have seen an idealist attempting to use cryptocurrency to fight totalitarianism. Taking advantage of Twitter's broad tolerance, I will share a few of my own observations.

New means not easily understood. We often make categorical judgments about things we think we understand but do not truly understand, lest we be left behind by the era. Some saw the K-line with huge fluctuations; some saw the overall market where Bitcoin and SOL also fell; some saw the Li coin being marked as a "貔貅" (Pixiu) and banned from trading, or even directly delisted by centralized exchanges; others saw the Chinese capital behind these two exchanges. Fragmented information from the internet pours in, and we are but blind men touching an elephant.

Meme coin, token, $LI are just appearances; behind them are Teacher Li's vision, projects, and the community generated by them. The Li coin is just the concretization of everyone's incentive and participation in this concept. Of course, what is the committee? What is the white paper? What is the operational method? What projects are supported? Who will supervise? How will they supervise? These are all questions worth waiting to see.

I filmed Teacher Li handling multi-sigs, locking funds, looking for committee members willing to join, and discussing cooperation with several possible project parties over the last two days. Therefore, I want to continue filming this documentary; I will film the opposing voices within the community, film how the committee operates, and film what projects the fund eventually supports. Not as a promotional film, nor do I intend to "cyber-petition" after a failure, but I am personally curious about how our actions will shape history, and what kind of story Teacher Li in the crypto world will write?

A brick can become rubble in history, it can become a weapon that hurts people, or it can become the cornerstone of constructing a building.

Regardless of the outcome of the Li coin, I will not distance myself from Teacher Li, nor will I distance myself from Huang Yicheng; I want to understand the world, and I want to understand every person in the world.

German artist Beuys proposed the concept of "social sculpture." Before him, the materials of sculpture were often marble, bronze, clay, or wood. Beuys believed that society itself is the medium that most needs to be sculpted—various industries, every person, every action, together participate in the construction of the world we live in. Therefore, at this moment, everyone is an artist, and society, or rather the future, becomes our work.
