On September 14, a Chinese man named Wei Shang, suspected of hunting and eating a hawksbill turtle—a critically endangered nationally protected species—in the Raja Ampat marine protected area in Indonesia, was intercepted by immigration authorities in Makassar while preparing to leave the country. Previously, a local indigenous patrol team submitted a report, and widely circulated online videos showed him hunting a hawksbill turtle with a speargun and cooking and eating it.

According to the video, the Prime Minister of Malaysia visited Japan on June 10, and the two countries maintain close strategic and military cooperation.
