Douyin on September 11 cleans up comment section of Tianjin University of Technology military training video
On September 11, 2026, the Douyin platform cleaned the comment section of the Tianjin University of Technology military training performance “Tank Formation” video. After the video was posted, the comment section saw multiple netizens use “June Fourth” to allude to the 1989 Tiananmen incident, sparking heated discussion. Douyin subsequently deleted all related comments, resulting in the comment section being emptied, without providing an official explanation. This action was seen as online censorship of sensitive political topics.
