London court sentences Yuan Songbiao to 8 years and Wei Zhiliang to 10 years for assisting a foreign intelligence agency
On June 18, a judge in London sentenced 66-year-old Yuan Songbiao to eight years in prison on charges of assisting a foreign intelligence agency; 41-year-old former British border force officer Wei Zhiliang received a total of ten years for the same charge and misconduct in public office. The two were accused of carrying out espionage for China.
