According to a September 2026 video of Hu Liren's "True China," former history teacher Yuan Tengfei, who emigrated to the United States, publicly criticized Falun Gong, Wenzhao and others at a meeting, triggering overseas public opinion controversy and criticism.
News that Yuan Tengfei had "landed in America" circulated online. Xu Xiaodong posted a message saying "he has landed safely," while Yuan Tengfei himself had not publicly responded as of that time.
In September 2026, overseas self-media widely circulated claims that Liang Hongda (Lao Liang) had arrived in Canada and Yuan Tengfei in the United States, with some self-media calling it "defection"; Zhai Shanying, however, said the two had never been anti-CCP in their remarks, but were only criticizing current problems.
