Lü Dengdi, a former official of Fanjiazhuang Township, Quyang County, Baoding, Hebei, escaped while under residential surveillance for a 2010 case involving the assault of a villager. During his 15 years on the run, he continued to receive his salary in violation of regulations and even received promotions. He was recaptured in 2025.
