Decoupling from the CCP: The Key to Protecting Democracy and National Security
Using economic interests to coerce foreign investors and then leveraging those investors to influence foreign policies is one of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) favorite tactics. This approach appears entirely legal and reasonable on the surface, but in reality, it poses a significant threat to the democratic systems of other countries. If nations wish to safeguard their democratic institutions, they must decouple economically from the CCP. There is no alternative.
I have repeatedly emphasized that free trade has been proven to have its limitations. Free trade can only yield positive outcomes when the trading countries share similar political systems and comparable levels of public welfare. Engaging in free trade with an authoritarian state like the CCP-led China is a losing proposition. The CCP’s competitive advantage (low costs) is built on the oppression and exploitation of the Chinese people.

In the distribution phase, Chinese workers, despite their hard labor, receive only a small portion of the wealth—barely enough to sustain basic survival. The majority of the wealth is seized by the CCP through various means. This wealth is then used to build military power, buy off and corrupt foreign supporters and allies, and establish an authoritarian alliance led by China to rival the free world.

In the past, there has been a strong push within the United States to remove China from the military supply chain, which is undoubtedly the right move. However, this is far from sufficient. The U.S. must withdraw all investments from the CCP-led China and replace Chinese imports with domestically produced goods or imports from other democratic nations. Only by doing so can the CCP’s influence in the U.S. be fundamentally curtailed, ensuring the long-term security and stability of the free world.
