On the morning of September 14, 2026, Wancheng Town, Wanning City, Hainan Province was struck by an EF3–EF4 tornado, damaging the playground facilities of Beijing Normal University Wanning Experimental School, with no casualties. Due to the combined effect of the residual vortex of a South China Sea tropical low and cold air, the province has been experiencing continuous extreme heavy rainfall since September 11. The main external road of Wuzhishan City was completely blocked, allowing only emergency rescue vehicles, and floods caused severe losses for local farmers.
Wuzhishan City, Hainan Province, suffered severe urban flooding due to continuous heavy rain, with rapid floodwaters spilling onto streets and washing away many private cars and electric bikes, while some areas experienced water, power and gas outages. The Hainan Provincial Meteorological Bureau issued a level‑2 rainstorm warning, and local authorities have upgraded flood‑and‑wind emergency response to Level I, implementing a “five stops and one closure” measure across the city.
