In a lengthy CNN report, from autumn 2024 to spring 2025, a quadcopter drone suspected of being linked to the Chinese Communist Party repeatedly intruded into restricted airspace over the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The U.S. side employed electronic warfare means to force it to land, detained multiple Chinese citizens in a nearby RV as well as one Chinese woman who had remained in a national park (the latter was later released). The FBI suspects these individuals were connected to Chinese intelligence agencies, and the Chinese embassy denied the allegations.
