On October 15, former Chengdu Airlines pilot Liu Wei posted a video in a civil aviation uniform, saying that in the 12 years since he left his job, CAAC Document No. 109 had been used by superiors to block the transfer of his flight crew records, making it impossible for him to find new employment. He publicly solicited leads on illegal and criminal conduct by Manager Ye of the flight department and his wife, promising to keep sources confidential and to file reports on their behalf.

On the fourth anniversary of the China Eastern Airlines Flight MU5735 crash on March 21, former pilot Liu Wei published a statement saying that the cause of death of the 132 souls remains unknown to this day, and that the authorities block the public from seeking the truth on the grounds of "for everyone's own good."
