Beijing Queer Film Festival Announces Cancellation of Upcoming Event
On October 29, the Beijing Queer Film Festival (iQueer Film Week), founded in 2001, issued a statement announcing the cancellation of the film week originally scheduled for the near future, apologizing to the audience without specifying the reason. The festival has long operated by circumventing censorship; after being shut down in 2014, it once organized screenings for audiences on a train to Huairou using USB drives, and it stopped using its WeChat official account in 2025.
