Penghu Coast Guard Seizes Mainland Fishing Vessel Trawling Across Boundary and Escorts It Back to Magong Port
On the morning of October 20, the Penghu Coast Guard patrol team spotted a mainland fishing vessel trawling across the boundary in waters about 25 nautical miles southwest of Qimei. After a broadcast order to stop the vessel went unheeded, the team came alongside and boarded it by force, taking control of 7 crew members. They found that the crew had dumped the catch into the sea to destroy evidence; about 600 kilograms of catch remained on board. The vessel has been escorted back to Magong Port for handling in accordance with the law, marking the fourth seizure this year.
