Maximilian Krah, a member of Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD), said in an interview with Clash Report that Germany and Russia have a long history of energy cooperation, with natural gas trade beginning as far back as 1972 during the Soviet era, and that the Soviet Union always honored its contracts. Krah argued that even during the Cold War, Russia performed well as an energy partner, making it hard to view it as a bad choice.
