WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is spreading at an unprecedented rate; government data shows 3,874 confirmed cases and 1,751 deaths.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that a confirmed case of Ebola has been discovered in mainland France. The patient is a doctor who returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but the global risk remains low.
In 2025, the World Health Organization disclosed that China still had not provided hundreds of SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences from the early stage of the outbreak, data on animals sold at Wuhan markets, and information on research content and biosafety conditions at Wuhan laboratories; Tedros said all origin hypotheses must continue to be considered.
