Circulating images show several students placing fresh flowers next to the entrance and exit of the Guangxi University metro station to mourn the student surnamed Ning, who fell to his death.

On the evening of October 17, Guangxi University announced that a student surnamed Ning had died in a fall from height, saying it had fulfilled its duties of education and management, and warning that it would deal with the fabrication of false information and malicious hype in accordance with the law, without specifying what the alleged false information was.

On the evening of October 12, a Guangxi University student surnamed Ning was found dead below a campus dormitory building. Police preliminarily determined that the death resulted from a fall from height and ruled out a criminal case.
