After the South China Sea arbitration case ruling was announced in July 2016, young netizens once again organized in groups to jump the Great Firewall and go on an expedition; together with the expedition organized by Li Yi in January of the same year, this formed a fixed pattern of online expeditions.
In January 2016, organizations related to Li Yi launched a campaign where tens of thousands of young people grouped together to circumvent the Great Firewall and spam Tsai Ing-wen's Facebook account with memes. In July of the same year, events related to the South China Sea arbitration occurred, marking the formation of a fixed pattern of online crusades by the young generation of netizens under the tone set by the Communist Youth League and the promotion of platform algorithms, as well as the public emergence of the early Little Pinks.
