Xi Jinping's first call with new British Prime Minister Bonham, calling for protection of Chinese investors' lawful rights and interests
On September 8, 2026, Xi Jinping held his first phone call with new British Prime Minister Bonham, who took office on July 20. The Xinhua News Agency communiqué expressed the hope that the British side would fully safeguard the lawful rights and interests of Chinese investors. Analysts believe this move reflects the Chinese Communist Party's concern that U.S. sanctions could spill over into overseas assets.
