On September 19, it was exposed that after rectification, the student protection post at Eryumatou Primary School in Wutongqiao District, Leshan, Sichuan, was still manned by elderly people. Previously, parents reported that the protection post increased the burden on dual-income families, and the education bureau had requested the cancellation of mandatory scheduling. The school's system requires protection personnel to hold equipment while on duty and explicitly demands that they promptly stop criminal acts when discovered.

On September 17, the Wutongqiao District Education Bureau replied on “Ask Sichuan” that the education authorities have not stipulated that parents must participate in guarding the school, and that schools have been urged to cancel mandatory scheduling and switch to voluntary sign-ups, putting an end to such practices as elderly people taking over shifts and paid substitutes standing in.
