On October 19, according to domestic media reports, Moscow State University stated that it will announce as soon as possible the formal decision to expel the Chinese student who wore the Rising Sun Flag, and the student involved has already been deported back to China.

Recently, a Chinese student in the History Department of Moscow State University wore the Rising Sun flag and placed a Japanese military cap on his desk during class. He was reported by another Chinese student at the same university, after which he publicly released a video bowing in apology, saying his intention was to display a symbol of Japanese aggression rather than to support militarism.

On October 16, several Chinese students in the History Department of Moscow State University submitted a collective petition to the university administration, demanding an investigation into the incident involving a Chinese student draped in the Rising Sun flag.
