Report: Tencent Signs Five-Year Lease with Oracle, Rents About 100,000 Advanced AI Chips Overseas
On October 1, Reuters relayed a Financial Times report that Tencent signed a five-year lease with US cloud service provider Oracle, using approximately 100,000 advanced AI chips — which cannot be obtained domestically in China — through several of its data centers in Southeast Asia. The contract is worth about $7 billion, with an advance payment of roughly 30%, making it Tencent's largest overseas leasing agreement to date.
