The US Geological Survey has revised its earlier assessment, saying the Nepal mudslide was triggered by a glacier rockfall rather than an earthquake.

After re-examining monitoring data, the US Geological Survey said the signal initially interpreted as an earthquake came from a glacier and rockfall; about 3 hours after the collapse, another event equivalent to magnitude 4.2 was recorded.
