Since March 19, 2026, Jeyens Reskhan, a Kazakh children's literature writer from Xinjiang and former chairman of the Hami Prefecture Writers Association, was taken away by police on suspicion of extremist thought and has since gone missing. His family has received no official notice and does not know his whereabouts.
