A recent post on X discussing French secondary school students' strike protests has sparked widespread discussion. The poster compared the daily schedule and study intensity of Chinese high school students in order to criticize French students, but a large number of Chinese netizens instead sided with the French students and used the issue to criticize China's education system. French netizens subsequently expressed their thanks to the Chinese netizens.

On September 30, sophomores at Wuyuan No. 1 Middle School in Inner Mongolia launched a collective protest against illegal supplementary classes during the National Day holiday and signed a joint petition demanding that the school stop shortening the holiday.

On September 23, students at Anyue Middle School in Ziyang, Sichuan, held a collective protest after their Mid-Autumn Festival holiday was compressed; the school restored the three-day holiday on the 24th.

Over 1,000 students at Xiapu No. 1 Middle School in Fujian staged a collective protest demanding the cancellation of evening self-study before the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday; students said the school threatened them with disciplinary punishment and set up checkpoints to stop them, and their demands were not met.

Beijing No. 18 Middle School recently replaced its principal with one from Shandong along with a number of teachers, sparking dissatisfaction over their poor Mandarin, low teaching quality, and an open letter from the principal criticizing students; subsequently, the principal was exposed as allegedly having a prior rape record, leading to collective student protests.

First-year high school students at Anlu No. 1 High School in Hubei Province staged a collective strike to protest the school's decision to cut their original 20-day summer vacation down to just 5 days. Chanting slogans such as "Against centralization, advocate equality" and "Return our 20-day summer vacation," they ultimately forced the school administration to compromise and restore the long break.

On November 1, 2024, the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad, Serbia, collapsed, killing 16 people. The station had previously been renovated under contract by a consortium of Chinese-funded enterprises. Students demanded accountability for the accident and an end to corruption; the protests continued for nearly two years and grew into a nationwide movement calling for early elections.

In December 1986, student unrest broke out successively in Hefei, Shanghai, and Beijing and spread to Guiyang. Hu Jintao neither supported the protests nor sent in troops and police to suppress them; instead, he personally met with student representatives, made concessions and promises in exchange for the students withdrawing from the streets, and made no arrests afterward.
