Puning exam candidate says teacher recruitment rejected him over HIV and questions physical exam standards
A candidate in a teacher recruitment exam in Puning, Guangdong, posted that on August 6 staff of the municipal Education Bureau persuaded him to fill out a voluntary withdrawal of employment form on the grounds that he failed the HIV physical exam. The physical exam standards revised in 2013, as specified in the recruitment announcement, do not list AIDS as a disqualifying condition, yet the Education Bureau refused to hire him based on the version revised in 2007. After refusing to sign, the candidate filed complaints with the letters and visits, human resources and social security, and discipline inspection departments, and on August 17 received a written certificate of physical exam failure and applied for administrative reconsideration; the problem remains unresolved.
