Xinhua Journalists Beaten and Phones Confiscated at China Railway Seventh Group Site on the Hefei–Xinjiang High-Speed Railway
On November 14, Wang Wenzhi and Cheng Zilong, journalists with Xinhua News Agency's Economic Information Daily, were beaten while reporting at a China Railway Seventh Group construction site on the Hefei–Xinjiang high-speed railway in Anhui, and their phones were seized. On-site video shows a person in charge admitting that the reporters' phones were confiscated, and saying the beating may have been carried out by his subordinates.
