Legal scholars including Jiang Ping and He Weifang jointly call for sparing Jia Jinglong the death penalty
In 2016, several legal scholars and lawyers wrote to Zhou Qiang, President of the Supreme People's Court, arguing that approving Jia Jinglong's death sentence did not meet the standards and policies for the cautious use of the death penalty, and requesting that it not be carried out; the list of co-signers and the date of October 25 could not be verified.
