At Least Seven Banks in South Korea Hacked, Personal Data of About 68000 People Leaked
South Korean media reported on October 6 that at least seven financial institutions, including KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank and Hana Bank, were hacked, and sensitive personal information such as annual incomes and loan limits of about 68000 people was leaked. Investigators found Chinese strings in the attack servers, pointing to ARTEX, an open-source AI tool developed by a Chinese cybersecurity engineer. They have traced 28 IP addresses distributed across multiple countries, but no suspect has been identified yet.
