On September 23, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei each gave remarks on AI safety at the UN Security Council. Altman called for AI development to be led by democratic institutions and kept under human control; Amodei proposed that the international community establish an agreement banning the use of AI to develop biological and chemical weapons and set up global testing standards.
