On September 2, 2026, Kong Xun, deputy director of the CCP Central Committee General Office, was transferred to acting governor of Gansu Province. Overseas sources claim the move is a promotion in name but a demotion in reality, to keep him from interfering with and monitoring the venue and affairs of the Fifth Plenary Session of the CCP Central Committee in October.
