On September 10, 2026, the AP reported that China's total auto exports in the first eight months of 2026 have already exceeded the total exports for the whole of 2025, with electric vehicle exports rising sharply. Morgan Stanley analysts noted in a latest research report that weak domestic demand is prompting automakers to shift capacity overseas and gradually move from exporting complete vehicles to local assembly, to avoid trade barriers and reduce logistics costs.
