On August 25, 2026, students at No. 17 Middle School in Yiyang, Hunan Province, posted a video exposing the dirty, run-down and dilapidated conditions of their dormitories. The school subsequently responded by saying these were conditions from previous years and demanded that students delete the exposé video.
