Six departments — the Equipment Development Department of the CCP Central Military Commission, the Logistics Support Department, the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense — issued a notice banning the sale of retired and scrapped equipment outside the approved catalog, strictly prohibiting the manufacture, modification, assembly, and sale of replicas that could lead the public to regard them as military equipment, as well as commercial marketing and promotion of retired and scrapped equipment. The move is intended to strengthen management and supervision and to guard against risks to public safety and military secrets.
