On the day of the second trial, a man who had come to observe the proceedings was dragged, beaten and taken away by a group of police officers on the road in front of the Shanghai High People's Court, and has been missing ever since. His pregnant wife publicly asked Hu Jintao to return her husband. Petitioners estimate that between 9 a.m. and noon that day, five vans full of people were taken away, more than 100 in total.
