According to a Bloomberg report, US Treasury Secretary Bessent said the US government will conduct a comprehensive review of whether open-source AI models from China are stealing US intellectual property, claiming that watermarks left by US large language models have been found in some Chinese models, that further investigations will be launched in the coming days or weeks, and that sanctions and requirements for users to disclose such use are under consideration. US Trade Representative Greer also said he is investigating whether China is promoting AI development through unfair means.
