On August 12, 2026, an environmental blogger disclosed that large quantities of garbage had long been piled up downstream and along the banks of a reservoir serving as a backup drinking water source in Fuxin, Liaoning. On-site, a large number of glucose infusion bags, pesticide bottles, and unburned medical waste were found, posing a serious risk of water pollution.
