In 1938, after the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Qin Bangli was ordered to relocate to Hong Kong to open a small business called Lianhe Hang. On the surface, it traded in local specialties, but in reality, it was used to manage anti-Japanese donations, procure medical supplies and equipment, and maintain the intelligence channels of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Hong Kong.
