Hong Kong's Innovation and Technology Bureau folds multiple service industries into the new industrial statistics category in April 2025

On April 9, 2025, Hong Kong's Innovation and Technology Bureau, together with the Census and Statistics Department, incorporated product design, data services, software development, testing and certification, and professional technical services into the new category of manufacturing and emerging industries. After being incorporated into the category in 2023, the value added amounted to HK$76.8 billion, accounting for 2.6% of GDP.
