A netizen submission claimed that a school class notified students to bring books to form a reading corner, but explicitly prohibited bringing books by Shen Shixi, Yang Hongying, Yang Peng, Yu Hua, Mo Yan and Wang Xiaobo, on grounds involving historical trauma, reflections on human nature, and sexual content in the plots. Notices from recent years in which schools cleared out books by Yi Zhongtian and Lung Ying-tai are also circulating online.
