In the early hours of September 24, a Chinese restaurant named after Xi Jinping in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, was broken into by 4 Chinese nationals who vandalized it with spray paint, and its ingredients were sprayed with a liquid suspected to be pesticide. About an hour after the crime, they left the country via Incheon Airport, flying to Yantai and Shanghai. The owner said the restaurant had previously been subjected to multiple protests and acts of vandalism; police are investigating the motive and considering international judicial cooperation to pursue them.
