Recently, a Chinese tourist was asked for a $100 tip by customs when entering Sri Lanka. After the tourist refused, they were locked in a small dark room and told to buy a return ticket themselves the next day. The following day, airline staff, claiming there was a problem with the ticket, demanded 13,400 Sri Lankan rupees per person, and refused to return the luggage without payment.
