On September 11, 2026, a 25th anniversary ceremony for the 9/11 attacks was held at Ground Zero in New York, where families of the victims, first responders, and officials read aloud the names of the dead. For the first time, this year's ceremony added a seventh moment of silence and bell toll to honor the rescue workers who inhaled toxic dust during the rescue efforts and subsequently fell ill or even died.
