Zhou Junyi, a senior member of the Chinese Democracy Party, successfully left Thailand on October 17, 2026 after being held by the immigration bureau there for more than a year, boarding a flight to Canada. According to reports, while stranded in Thailand Zhou Junyi faced dangerous situations on multiple occasions, including pressure from personnel at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand who demanded that he sign a consent form for repatriation, attempting to have him deported back to China. Zhou Junyi has now successfully escaped the control of the CCP's transnational repression apparatus and is about to arrive in Canada.
