On October 30, the US Department of Justice announced that two Chinese men who conducted clandestine intelligence activities on behalf of China's Ministry of State Security (MSS) were each sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty, followed by three years of supervised release. The two had assisted in identifying recruitable US military personnel and, in January 2022, arranged for individuals within the US to drop off approximately $10,000 in cash via a dead drop in a storage locker.
