On October 17, Vietnamese police raided a hotel in Thanh Hoa Province booked by a telecom fraud ring led by Chinese nationals, detaining 118 people, including 74 Chinese citizens. The gang's equipment was shipped in from Cambodia, and they had agreed not to defraud Vietnamese people, splitting into groups to target Taiwanese women and Chinese gamblers. On October 25, authorities announced that 89 people had been criminally charged and placed in custody.
